Cory Van Horn
Owner / Head Guide

Since moving to Pittsburgh in 2008, Cory meticulously researched nearly all 90 of the city’s neighborhoods and outer ring communities. Immersing himself in the experiences, Cory has set out to share this research and his love of food, fun, and adventure. Food Guy Adventures was born from the desire to bring these food journeys to both residents and visitors alike, creating new friends and new memories by showcasing the vibrant and dynamic city that he calls home.

Cory brings an unmatched level of experience and knowledge to Food Guy Adventures with his passion for food and travel. In 2003, he received a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Grand Valley State University. He went on to earn an M.A. in Food Studies from Chatham University for his work in culinary tourism development, and has recently returned to teach food tourism courses as an adjunct professor.

Since 2011, he has facilitated food tours in Pittsburgh. He also currently markets and organizes group experiences for the international adventure travel industry. His food and travel blog, Food Guy Magazine (formally Culinary Cory), was a Webby Award honoree in 2012.

“Pittsburgh is a city tied together by tradition, food, and community. Every neighborhood has a distinct story, a unique history. Why just read about the stories when you can experience and taste the narrative for yourself?”
— Cory
